Professional career

 

 

Dr. Karl Zippelius is specialized in sports medicine and cooperates since 2010 with the Austrian Institute for Sports Medicine (Österreichisches Institut für Sportmedizin ÖISM) to promote the integration of methods of TCM into modern sports medicine. He is part of the medical team of „Sportmedic“ Clinic in Wien, where he collaborates with Dr. Brandner to integrate surgery and TCM for a better treatment of cruciate ligament injuries. He cooperates since many years with SK Rapid Wien, a first league austrian soccer team. He also operates a private practice in Florence, with focus on TCM traumatology and orthopedics.

After obtaining his degree in human medicine from the Ludwig Maximilian University Munich and the Free University Berlin Dr. Zippelius studied Traditional Chinese Medicine at the “Schule Ost des Arbeitskreises für TCM” in Berlin as well as at the TCM University in Chengdu, China. He continued his training in Chinese orthopedics and traumatology at the Orthopedic Military Hospital of Sichuan Province, the Sichuan Tianxiang TCM Orthopedic Hospital, the Chengdu Sports University, the Dance Injury Research Institute in Chengdu and the Sichuan Tianpeng Academy of TCM -Orthopedics & Longevity, where in 2002 Dr. Zippelius was nominated a research member.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Dr. Zippelius has published several papers in Elsevier, Springer and Müller Steinicke publishing house.

Member of the Society for Orthopaedic Traumatologic Sports Medicine (GOTS) since 2015

Dr. Zippelius is a classical music enthusiast and had his violin education at the music high school “Conservatorio di Musica Luigi Cherubini” in Florence, Italy. He plays the violin with the World Doctors Orchestra (WDO) since 2010 

Together with the flutist and psychologist Orazio Caruso founder of the "Doctors-Music-Ensemble" (DME).
